The Peace Center of Nevada County and the Social Action Committee of the UUCM presents as its Second Sunday Cinema, Charles Ferguson’s “Inside Job” the first film to expose the shocking truth behind the economic crises of 2008. The global financial meltdown, at a cost of over $20 trillion, resulted in millions of people losing their homes and jobs. Through extensive research and interviews with major financial insiders, politicians, and journalists, “Inside Job” traces the rise of a rogue industry and unveils the corrosive relationships which have corrupted politics, regulation and academia. Narrated by Matt Damon and shot on location in the US, Iceland, Europe, and Asia, “Inside Job” is a truly frightening movie and you won’t leave on a happy Hollywood note. After the film, members of the Foreclosure Defense Group of Occupy Nevada County will lead a discussion linking the economic meltdown of 2007 to the mass seizure of homes taking place today, 5000 here in Nevada County alone! Members of the group who are fighting unlawful foreclosure and eviction in Nevada County will share their stories, and will talk about how to work together to advocate for changed policies that will lead to just solutions to this crisis. “Inside Job” will be shown at the Unitarian Universalists Community of the Mountains, 246 So.
